What CODES studies
CODES is Alf’s research center at SDU. It asks what happens when organizations turn people, work, and culture into data, and who ends up carrying the ethical weight of that turn. The work is deliberately transdisciplinary, pulling creativity research, ethics, critical data studies, and organization theory into one conversation rather than treating them as separate fields.
The premise is simple and slightly uncomfortable: datafication is not a neutral technical upgrade. It redistributes power, visibility, and responsibility inside organizations, and those effects deserve the same rigor we hand the technology itself.
Datafication & Ethics
What organizations gain, lose, and owe when they turn work and people into data.
Critical Data Studies
Reading data practices as social and political, not merely technical.
Creativity & Innovation
How genuinely new things happen, and why organizations keep getting it wrong.
Power & Exclusion
Who gets seen, heard, and counted inside organizations, and who does not.
AI & Organizations
The organizational reality of AI, past both the hype and the alarm.
Leadership Paradoxes
The contradictions leaders are asked to hold, and how to work with them honestly.
Bring the
research into
the room.
The questions CODES studies are the ones many organizations are living through right now. Alf brings them to keynotes and advisory work alike.
